Aurora Solar Strike (2013) depicts an inspiring portrayal of human’s relationship with fire. Rendering a lightning strike that ignites a Manzanita tree, triggering a forest fire that burns wildly to extend into an abstracted solar sunspot. Gravitating towards the sun, a figure provides oxygen in the form of bubbles that transform into the fire planets in the solar system. Despite the location’s history of dangerous and devastating wildfires, the artwork attempts to celebrate fire as an affirming and natural force. Depicting human’s interdependence with fire, this artwork suggests the burning fire fever as a metaphor for human motivation as it feeds the fire with air, coalescing with the solar system.
